Govt Appoints Kapil Kotecha to MOIL Board as Non-Official Director – Know More About Him

New Delhi: MOIL Limited, the country’s largest manganese ore producer and a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Steel, has appointed Kapil Kotecha as an Independent Director on its Board, effective July 7, 2025. His appointment comes in accordance with a Government of India order issued on July 3, 2025.

Professional Background and Expertise

Kapil Kotecha is a commerce graduate and holds a Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree. As a seasoned businessman, he brings with him deep-rooted experience in marketing, along with a nuanced understanding of commercial operations and legal frameworks—skills that are expected to add strategic value to MOIL’s governance and decision-making processes.

Regulatory Compliance and Transparency

MOIL, in its official statement, confirmed that Kotecha is not related to any existing Director or Key Managerial Personnel (KMP) of the company. Furthermore, he is not debarred by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) or any other statutory authority from holding a directorial position.

His induction is in line with MOIL’s ongoing commitment to strengthening corporate governance, and is subject to necessary statutory approvals.

Kotecha’s appointment comes at a time when MOIL is aggressively pursuing growth in manganese production, diversification, and technology integration in mining operations. MOIL, or Manganese Ore (India) Limited, is a Miniratna Category-I PSU under the Ministry of Steel of the Indian government. It’s the largest producer of manganese ore in India, holding a market share of around 50%. MOIL operates 11 mines in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, primarily engaging in the mining, processing, and marketing of manganese ore.
