Mumbai: Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE) has approved a capital budgetary outlay of ₹2,896 crore for the construction of a new greenfield shipyard at Raichak.
The investment was approved by the company’s Board of Directors during its 423rd Board meeting held on September 21, 2026. The proposed shipyard is aimed at expanding GRSE’s shipbuilding infrastructure and increasing its capacity to undertake projects in both the naval and commercial shipbuilding segments.
The decision is part of GRSE’s broader capacity expansion programme, which the company had earlier disclosed on August 24, 2026.

The Raichak greenfield shipyard is planned to support GRSE’s operations across both naval and commercial shipbuilding.
The expansion is intended to provide the company with additional infrastructure as it scales up its shipbuilding activities. By developing a dedicated greenfield facility, GRSE is seeking to strengthen its ability to undertake a larger volume and wider range of shipbuilding projects.
The project will also add a new location to GRSE’s shipbuilding infrastructure, complementing its existing facilities.

The Raichak project is part of a wider capacity expansion programme announced by GRSE earlier this year.
In its disclosure dated August 24, 2026, the company had outlined plans involving the development of three new facilities, including the proposed greenfield shipyard at Raichak.
The latest Board approval provides a specific capital outlay for the Raichak project and represents a further step towards implementing the company’s broader infrastructure expansion plans.
GRSE Board Meeting Held on September 21
The capital investment was approved during the company’s 423rd Board meeting held on September 21, 2026.
The meeting commenced at 2:30 p.m. and concluded at 4:30 p.m.
GRSE disclosed the decision under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
