Gujarat has been awarded the prestigious “Best State for Promotion of Aviation Ecosystem” at Wings India 2026, the biennial civil aviation conference and exhibition held at Begumpet Airport from January 28 to 31, 2026. The award was presented by Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu, highlighting the state’s efforts in advancing the aviation sector.
State Government Applauds Recognition
Confirming the achievement, Gujarat Civil Aviation Commissioner K. L. Bachani said the award reflects the state’s strong performance in strengthening aviation infrastructure and providing policy support to the sector. “The award acknowledges Gujarat’s work in maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities, development of aviation infrastructure, and progress in the aircraft leasing segment,” Bachani stated.
He further emphasized that the recognition aligns with Gujarat’s vision of making the aviation sector a key contributor to economic growth while improving air connectivity across the state and the country.

Joint Winners Highlight National Efforts
Telangana and Uttarakhand were also named joint winners in the same category, underscoring the growing focus of state governments on building robust aviation ecosystems across India.

Bachani explained that Gujarat’s strategy has focused on long-term planning, capacity building, and enhanced facilities to support both commercial aviation and allied services. The state has prioritized making air travel more accessible while promoting private investments in aviation-related infrastructure.
Previous Recognitions at Wings India
This is not the first time Gujarat has been recognized at Wings India. The state received the “Best State with a Dedicated Outlook for the Sector” award at Wings India 2022, and the “Best State with a Dedicated Lookout for the Aviation Sector” at Wings India 2024. These consecutive accolades highlight Gujarat’s consistent commitment to building a world-class aviation ecosystem.

Organized by the Ministry of Civil Aviation in collaboration with the Airports Authority of India and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Wings India 2026 brought together policymakers, aircraft manufacturers, airline operators, and stakeholders from across India and abroad.
