- Focus on productivity improvement and income enhancement
These initiatives aim to reduce farming costs and strengthen farmer earnings in the region.

At VGRC South Gujarat, chikoo will be positioned not just as a fruit crop but as a foundation for value-added industries.
Key focus areas include:
- Food processing and packaging
- Branding and export development
- Cold storage and warehousing infrastructure
- Ripening facilities and agri-logistics systems
The aim is to expand the chikoo value chain and boost its global market potential.
Focus on Agri-Tech and Supply Chain Modernisation
The conference is also expected to explore investment opportunities in:

- Farm-to-market integration
- Cold chain expansion
- Reduction of post-harvest losses
Officials believe improved supply chain systems will help farmers gain better market access while encouraging private sector participation.
Gujarat Positioning Chikoo as Export-Oriented Crop
With rising demand for fresh and processed fruits in domestic and international markets, Gujarat is positioning chikoo as part of its broader horticulture growth strategy.
The combination of strong production, policy support, and infrastructure development is expected to attract significant investment in the sector.

The Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Surat is expected to serve as a platform to connect regional agricultural strengths with industrial and export opportunities. Chikoo cultivation is being highlighted as a model for integrating farming with value-added industries, strengthening both rural economy and investment potential in South Gujarat.
