Gujarat: The new Bhuj–Delhi Express train service was virtually inaugurated on May 22 by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
The launch marks a significant boost in direct rail connectivity between Kutch in Gujarat and India’s capital, New Delhi, improving passenger convenience and regional accessibility.
CM Credits PM Modi and Rail Ministry for Rail Development Push
During the event, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for strengthening Gujarat’s railway infrastructure.
He also highlighted recent approvals such as the Ahmedabad–Dholera Semi High-Speed Rail Project, calling it a major step in modernizing the state’s transport network.

Gujarat at the Forefront of India’s Rail Modernization
The Chief Minister emphasized that Indian Railways has undergone a major transformation over the past 12 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.
He specifically mentioned the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project, India’s first bullet train initiative, noting that Gujarat is contributing the largest share of 348 km in the project.
Massive Expansion of Railway Infrastructure in Gujarat
CM Patel stated that since 2014, nearly 2,900 kilometres of new railway tracks have been laid in Gujarat.
He also said that railway projects worth approximately ₹1.28 lakh crore are currently underway across the state, reflecting rapid infrastructure expansion.
Additionally, Gujarat has received a 29% higher railway budget allocation compared to 2014, amounting to ₹17,366 crore.

Vande Bharat and Modern Train Services Strengthen Connectivity
The Chief Minister noted that Gujarat has been allotted several modern trains under central government initiatives, including:
- 5 Vande Bharat trains
- 1 Amrit Bharat train
- 1 Namo Bharat train
He also highlighted improved connectivity to Ekta Nagar, enhancing access to the Statue of Unity, a major tourism destination.
Boost to ‘Viksit Bharat’ Vision Through Rail Expansion
CM Bhupendra Patel expressed confidence that India’s railway modernization, guided by the Prime Minister and the Union Railway Ministry, will play a key role in achieving the vision of “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).
He said these developments will bring new momentum during the Amrit Kaal of Independence and strengthen national growth.
Dignitaries Present at Bhuj Railway Station
The flag-off ceremony at Bhuj Railway Station was attended by Minister of State Trikam Chhanga, MP Vinod Chavda, local MLAs, senior railway officials, and several public representatives and citizens from the Kutch region.
