Ministry of Defence approves extension of Kota Ravi’s additional charge until a regular Director (Operations) assumes office or further orders are issued.
Indian Masterminds Stories

Bengaluru/New Delhi: Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has received approval from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to extend the additional charge of Director (Operations) to its Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), Mr. Kota Ravi, for another three months starting 1 August 2026.

The extension will ensure continuity in the leadership of HAL’s Operations function until a regular incumbent takes charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Ministry of Defence Approves Extension

The Ministry of Defence conveyed its approval through Letter No. 49013/1/2026-D(HAL-III), dated 27 July 2026.

Under the approved arrangement, Mr. Kota Ravi will continue to hold the additional charge of Director (Operations) for a further period of three months from 1 August 2026.

His additional charge will continue until:

  • A regular incumbent assumes charge of Director (Operations); or
  • Further orders are issued by the competent authority;
  • Whichever occurs earlier.

The decision provides operational continuity at a critical leadership position within the defence public sector undertaking.

Additional Charge Continues from Earlier Arrangement

The latest approval is a continuation of an earlier arrangement.

HAL had previously informed the stock exchanges on 11 May 2026 that the additional charge of Director (Operations) had been entrusted to Mr. Kota Ravi.

The latest extension formalises the continuation of the arrangement under the oversight of the Ministry of Defence.

Mr. Kota Ravi will continue to perform his primary responsibilities as Chairman & Managing Director of HAL, alongside the additional operational responsibilities.

No Change in Other Service Terms Disclosed

The latest regulatory disclosure focuses on the extension of the additional charge and does not disclose any changes to Mr. Kota Ravi’s remuneration or other terms of service.

The announcement is an administrative leadership update and does not indicate any immediate change to HAL’s financial performance or reported financial metrics.

The continuation of the additional charge is expected to help avoid a leadership gap in the company’s Operations function while the process for appointing a regular incumbent continues.

HAL Informs BSE and NSE

HAL has communicated the development to the stock exchanges as part of its general corporate updates.

The disclosure was submitted to:

  • BSE Limited, where HAL is listed under Scrip Code 541154.
  • National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE), where the company trades under the symbol HAL.

The regulatory communication was signed by Shailesh Bansal, Company Secretary & Compliance Officer.

The filing also referred to the earlier communication dated 11 May 2026 and the Ministry of Defence’s latest approval letter dated 27 July 2026.

Leadership Continuity for HAL’s Operations Function

The extension of the additional charge comes at a time when continuity in operational leadership remains important for India’s leading aerospace and defence manufacturer.

With Mr. Kota Ravi continuing to oversee the Operations function alongside his role as CMD, HAL will maintain the existing leadership arrangement until a regular Director (Operations) assumes charge or further directions are issued.

The move ensures that the company’s operational leadership remains in place during the interim period.
