According to an order issued by the Personnel Department on May 19, 2026, Virender Singh Sehrawat has been transferred from Sirsa to Ambala and assigned two important municipal positions.
Virender Singh Sehrawat Given Dual Charge in Ambala
2018 batch IAS officer Sehrawat, who was serving as District Municipal Commissioner and Municipal Commissioner, Sirsa, has now been appointed as:
- District Municipal Commissioner, Ambala
- Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Ambala
Both posts were lying vacant prior to his appointment.
The transfer places the officer in charge of key urban administration responsibilities in one of Haryana’s major cities.
Surender Singh-III Posted to Sirsa
Surender Singh-III, an HCS officer of the 2016 batch, has been appointed as District Municipal Commissioner, Sirsa.
Before this posting, he was serving as Zonal Administrator, Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB), Hisar.
He replaces Virender Singh Sehrawat following the latter’s transfer to Ambala.
Post Declared Equivalent to IAS Senior Scale
The order further states that, under Rule 12(1) of the IAS (Pay) Rules, 2016, the post of District Municipal Commissioner, Ambala, has been declared equivalent in status and responsibilities to the Senior Scale of the Indian Administrative Service included in Schedule II of the Rules.
This declaration ensures that the post carries the same rank and administrative significance as a Senior Scale IAS assignment.
Focus on Strengthening Urban Governance
The latest transfer order reflects the Haryana government’s continued focus on efficient municipal administration and better urban governance through strategic deployment of experienced officers.
Ambala and Sirsa are both important urban centres, and these appointments are expected to support improved municipal management and service delivery.
