HUDCO Concludes 62nd ITEC Leadership Programme for Women, Trains 24 Professionals from Iraq

MEA-sponsored initiative strengthens women’s leadership, gender equity, and India-Iraq cooperation through a two-week capacity-building programme in New Delhi.

New Delhi: Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd. (HUDCO) has successfully concluded the 62nd Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Training Programme on “Leadership Skills for Women”, reinforcing India’s commitment to women’s empowerment, international cooperation, and capacity building.

Sponsored by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, the two-week programme was conducted at HUDCO’s Human Settlement Management Institute (HSMI) Hostel at the Asian Games Village Complex (AGVC), New Delhi, from June 18 to June 30, 2026.

The programme brought together 24 women professionals from Iraq, providing them with leadership training, professional development opportunities, and a platform for cross-cultural learning and knowledge exchange.

Leadership Development for Women Professionals

The specially designed training programme focused on strengthening participants’ leadership capabilities and preparing them for greater professional responsibilities.

Throughout the two-week course, participants received practical exposure to:

  • Leadership and decision-making skills
  • Gender equity and inclusive leadership
  • Organizational management
  • Professional development and capacity building
  • Cross-cultural collaboration
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving

The programme aimed to equip women professionals with the confidence and skills needed to assume leadership roles within their respective organizations and contribute to sustainable development.

Valedictory Ceremony Marks Successful Completion

The programme concluded with a valedictory session attended by senior dignitaries, including:

  • Sanjay Kulshrestha, Chairman & Managing Director, HUDCO
  • M. Nagaraj, Director (Corporate Planning), HUDCO
  • Oday Hatim Mohammed, Chargé d’Affaires of Iraq

Addressing the participants, the dignitaries emphasized the critical role of women leaders in building inclusive, equitable, and sustainable societies.

They encouraged the participants to apply the knowledge and leadership skills gained during the programme to create meaningful impact within their organizations and communities.

Strengthening India-Iraq Cooperation

The programme also served as an important platform for strengthening bilateral relations between India and Iraq through professional collaboration and institutional partnerships.

By bringing together women professionals from Iraq, the initiative promoted mutual learning, cultural exchange, and the sharing of best practices in leadership and governance.

Officials highlighted that such programmes help build long-term international partnerships while empowering future women leaders across partner countries.

The Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme is one of the Government of India’s flagship initiatives for international development cooperation.
