New Delhi: In a significant move to strengthen India’s mining sector and enhance energy security, CMPDI and NTPC Mining Limited have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate technological advancements, improve mineral exploration, and promote sustainable mining practices across the country.

The agreement was signed on June 30, 2026, at the CMPDI headquarters in Ranchi in the presence of senior officials from both organizations. The partnership is expected to enhance project execution, improve operational efficiency, and support India’s long-term vision of energy self-reliance.

Strategic Partnership to Enhance Mining Capabilities

Under the MoU, CMPDI will provide comprehensive consultancy, technical expertise, and engineering support for NTPC Mining’s coal and mineral projects.

The collaboration is aimed at strengthening institutional capabilities while enabling faster and more efficient development of mining projects. It will also contribute to meeting India’s growing energy demand through advanced mining technologies and sustainable resource management.

These capabilities will strengthen exploration standards, ensure regulatory compliance, and improve the overall quality of mineral resource assessment across mining projects.

Leadership Highlights Importance of Collaboration

Speaking on the occasion, Chaudhari Shivraj Singh, CMD of CMPDI, said the partnership combines CMPDI’s decades of technical expertise with NTPC Mining’s growth ambitions, creating a strong platform for efficient project execution and sustainable mining development.
