The Governor of Mizoram, Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, administered oath to retired IAS officer, Mr. Pu Lalmalsawma, as the new Chairperson of Mizoram Lokayukta.

Born in Gaya, Bihar, Mr. Lalmalsawma is a 1983-batch AGMUT cadre IAS officer and served in the bureaucracy in various capacities across Delhi, Goa, Mizoram, and the Central government. He had held many eminent ranks in finance, education, health, SC/ST/OBC welfare, and general administration, during his long stint spanning over 35 years in the bureaucracy.

Mr. Lalmalsawma served as the Director of the Ministry of Human Resource Development from 1996 to 2000 and played a pivotal role in the delimitation of Mizoram Assembly Constituencies in 2005 while serving as the Chief Electoral Officer for over eight years. He had even been included as one of the four International Observers from India during the Palestine elections in January 2015.
