Moments following the Election Commission (EC) order mandating the transfer of 2002-batch IAS officer, Dr. Abhishek Jain, the incumbent home secretary in Himachal Pradesh, the Sukhvinder Sukhu government relieved the officer from his other designations in the home and vigilance departments on March 18th. The Election Commission and the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Himachal Pradesh received compliance reports from the state government.
Mr. Jain held other critical roles like secretary to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, finance, economics and statistics, and planning departments, and many others.
Dr. Abhishek Jain, born and brought up in Goraya village in Punjab’s Jalandhar district, has a PhD in Economics. During his schooling days, he won many national and international awards in typewriting competitions and also represented India in the World Speed Typing Championships held in Brussels in 1991, when he was just 13. Mr. Jain’s name has been inscribed in the Limca Book of Records as the “youngest-fastest world typing champion.”
