Reshuffle Comes Amid Scrutiny of Irregular Salary Withdrawals

The administrative changes come at a time when the Education Department is examining alleged irregularities in salary payments to teachers and other employees.

According to report, a recent Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report brought attention to cases in which teachers and other department personnel were allegedly drawing salaries irregularly. The state government subsequently initiated an investigation.

A review conducted after CK Anil took charge as Additional Chief Secretary reportedly brought to light unauthorised withdrawals amounting to ₹34.11 crore from the department.

The reported amount was ₹34,11,56,604. Of this, approximately ₹29 crore has reportedly been recovered so far.

The investigation is also examining the alleged involvement of officials in the irregularities. However, the source report does not provide details of any officials formally identified or action taken against them.

The latest transfers constitute a major administrative reshuffle in the department, covering district education officers as well as programme-level officials.
