The state government, which is facing a shortage of bureaucrats, will get 18 officers in the Uttarakhand IAS cadre in August. The meeting of the Selection Committee (SCM) in the Union Public Service Commission for the promotion of senior PCS officers of direct recruitment has been fixed for August 12.
In this regard, Deputy Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, NK Kumar has written a letter to Chief Secretary Dr. SS Sandhu. Secretary Personnel Shailesh Bagauli has also been informed. The state government had sent a proposal for the promotion of PCS officers to the Union Public Service Commission long back. But in some cases, the Commission had sought some more information from the Personnel Department.
Due to this, the promotion exercise was getting delayed. After sending all the information, the government was waiting for the commission to decide the date of the meeting of the selection committee. The matter remained in judicial litigation for 12 years due to the dispute over seniority among promoted and direct recruited PCS officers.
The dispute ended after the Supreme Court ordered the first seniority benefit to the officers of direct recruitment. After the meeting of the selection committee, for the first time in the state, direct recruitment of PCS officers will get a promotion. The state government will also get IAS officers. Apart from this, new opportunities will also open for the unemployed candidates waiting for the direct recruitment posts of PCS.
