Hyderabad: The Telangana IAS Officers’ Association has lodged a formal complaint with Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar against several private news channels for airing allegedly defamatory content targeting women IAS officers and a State minister. Following the complaint, a case has been registered, and investigations are underway.
Allegations Against News Channels
The association alleged that the telecast contained:
- Unverified claims and fabricated narratives
- Misrepresentation of administrative processes
- Attempts to undermine the integrity and dignity of serving officers
According to the complaint, the content not only violated privacy but also promoted a regressive narrative against women in public service, amounting to character assassination.
Demand for Accountability
The Telangana IAS Officers’ Association demanded:
- Immediate withdrawal of the content
- A public apology from the news channels
The association warned that legal action would follow if accountability was not ensured. They also stated that civil and criminal remedies were being considered.
“Any attempt to malign constitutional offices or demoralise officers will be met with a strong institutional response,” the association said in its statement.
Police Action and Investigation
Based on the complaint, the Hyderabad Central Crime Station has booked a case. Investigations are ongoing to verify the claims and determine accountability. Senior officials confirmed that all evidence, including recordings of the telecast, is being examined as part of the inquiry.
