New Delhi/Monaco: In a significant global recognition for India’s fertiliser sector, IFFCO‘s Kalol Unit has been conferred the prestigious IFA Green Leaf Award, regarded as the fertiliser industry’s highest international honour for excellence in Safety, Health and Environment (SHE).

The award was presented during the International Fertilizer Association (IFA) Annual Conference held in Monaco, where IFFCO’s decades-long commitment to operational excellence, workplace safety and sustainable manufacturing received global appreciation.

Welcoming the achievement, IFFCO Managing Director K. J. Patel described the recognition as a proud milestone for the cooperative and a testament to the dedication of generations of employees who have upheld the highest standards of safety, engineering and environmental stewardship.

K. J. Patel Calls It a Proud Milestone

Expressing his happiness over the achievement, Managing Director Kiritkumar J. Patel (K. J. Patel) said the recognition carries special significance because Kalol is IFFCO’s first manufacturing unit and the foundation of the cooperative’s journey.

He said the plant has remained a symbol of technical excellence and sustainable manufacturing for more than five decades.

According to Patel, the award reflects IFFCO Kalol’s world-class standards in safety, environmental stewardship, engineering excellence and continuous modernisation.

He emphasised that the achievement reinforces IFFCO’s commitment to responsible manufacturing while serving Indian farmers and agriculture.

A Legacy of More Than Five Decades

Established over fifty years ago, IFFCO Kalol is among India’s pioneering ammonia-urea plants.

Over the decades, the unit has evolved into one of the country’s leading fertiliser manufacturing facilities while consistently adopting modern technologies and global best practices.

Patel noted that despite its long history, the plant continues to meet international benchmarks in operational efficiency, workplace safety and environmental protection.

Tribute to Generations of Employees

The IFFCO Managing Director dedicated the award to the generations of employees who have contributed to the success of the Kalol unit.

He said their knowledge, discipline, technical expertise and unwavering commitment have enabled the plant to maintain world-class performance over the years.

“Their collective efforts have transformed experience into excellence and legacy into global leadership,” Patel said while congratulating the entire IFFCO family.

Commitment to Innovation and Sustainability

Reaffirming IFFCO’s long-term vision, Patel said the cooperative remains committed to innovation, sustainability and responsible manufacturing practices.

He added that the organisation will continue working towards supporting Indian farmers through environmentally responsible fertiliser production while maintaining the highest global standards in safety and operational excellence.

Describing the recognition as another milestone in IFFCO’s journey, Patel said the Kalol unit continues to strengthen its legacy as a global benchmark in the fertiliser industry.
