New Delhi: Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Income Tax Department to facilitate domestic piped natural gas (PNG) connections at the staff quarters of the Income Tax Colony in Sector 9, Karnal, Haryana.

The initiative aims to promote the use of cleaner cooking fuel in residential premises while providing residents with a convenient and continuous supply of natural gas for household cooking. The partnership marks a step towards expanding PNG infrastructure and encouraging the adoption of cleaner energy solutions.

IGL shared the development through its official social media account, highlighting the collaboration as part of its commitment to building a greener and more sustainable future.

IGL and Income Tax Department Join Hands for PNG Connections

Under the MoU, IGL and the Income Tax Department will work towards facilitating domestic PNG connections at the staff quarters in the Income Tax Colony, Sector 9, Karnal.

Piped natural gas is supplied directly to homes through a pipeline network, offering an alternative to conventional cooking fuel cylinders. The initiative is expected to improve convenience for residents by providing access to a continuous fuel supply for household cooking.

The collaboration also reflects efforts to expand the use of natural gas in residential establishments and strengthen access to gas-based energy infrastructure.

Domestic PNG to Support Cleaner Cooking and Greater Convenience

Domestic PNG connections offer several potential benefits for households, including a continuous supply of cooking fuel and reduced dependence on conventional LPG cylinders.

By facilitating PNG connections at the Karnal staff quarters, the initiative aims to make cleaner cooking fuel more accessible to residents. The expansion of piped gas infrastructure can also support the wider adoption of natural gas for domestic use.

The agreement aligns with broader efforts to encourage cleaner energy consumption and improve the availability of convenient fuel options in residential areas.

IGL’s Initiative Supports Sustainable Energy Adoption

The MoU with the Income Tax Department represents another step towards expanding domestic PNG access in Haryana. Through such collaborations, IGL aims to extend its gas distribution network and encourage the use of natural gas in residential premises.

However, the announcement did not specify the number of households expected to receive connections or the timeline for installation. Further details regarding the implementation of the initiative have not been disclosed.
