Net Interest Income Rises 26.3% to ₹4,145 Crore
Central Bank of India’s net interest income increased 26.3% year-on-year to ₹4,145 crore in Q2 FY27, compared with ₹3,283 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. This represents an increase of ₹862 crore over the year-ago period.
Net interest income is the difference between the interest a bank earns on loans and investments and the interest it pays on deposits and borrowings. It is an important indicator of a bank’s core lending performance.
The rise in NII, along with higher operating profit, supported the bank’s overall growth in quarterly net profit.
Gross and Net NPA Ratios Improve in Q2 FY27
Central Bank of India reported continued improvement in asset quality during the September 2026 quarter, with both gross and net non-performing asset (NPA) ratios declining.
The gross NPA ratio fell to 2.39% from 2.60% in the preceding quarter, marking an improvement of 21 basis points. It was also lower than the 3.01% recorded in Q2 FY26.
Similarly, the net NPA ratio declined to 0.31% from 0.49% in Q1 FY27, an improvement of 18 basis points. In the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year, the net NPA ratio stood at 0.48%.
The decline in both ratios indicates an improvement in the bank’s reported asset quality and its management of stressed loans.
Provisions Increase to ₹562.7 Crore
The bank’s provisions increased to ₹562.7 crore in Q2 FY27, compared with ₹401.6 crore in the preceding quarter and ₹314.1 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.
Provisions are amounts set aside by banks to cover potential loan losses and other risks. Their level depends on factors such as credit quality, expected losses and regulatory requirements.
Despite the increase in provisions, Central Bank of India recorded year-on-year growth in net profit alongside a rise in net interest income.
Total Assets Reach ₹5.97 Lakh Crore
Central Bank of India’s total assets stood at ₹5.97 lakh crore as of September 30, 2026. The bank also reported healthy growth in advances and deposits, supporting its business expansion and interest income.
Its capital adequacy ratio stood at 17.18% under Basel III norms, compared with 17.27% in the corresponding period of the previous year. The ratio measures a bank’s capital against its risk-weighted assets and indicates its ability to absorb potential losses.
The bank’s annualised return on assets improved marginally to 1.03% in Q2 FY27 from 1.02% in Q2 FY26.
Half-Year Net Profit Rises 17.3%
For the six months ended September 30, 2026, Central Bank of India reported standalone net profit of ₹2,792.56 crore, up 17.3% from ₹2,381.57 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
The half-year results reflect continued growth in profitability during the first six months of FY27.
Consolidated Results and Other Disclosures
The bank’s consolidated financial results include the performance of two subsidiaries, Cent Bank Home Finance Limited and Cent Bank Financial Services Limited, along with its share of profits from three associate entities.
The Statutory Central Auditors issued an unmodified limited review report on the consolidated results as well.
