Mumbai: The Central Government has nominated Mr. Ashutosh Choudhury, Executive Director of Indian Bank, as the Government Nominee Director from a Scheduled Commercial Bank on the Board of Directors of India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited (IIFCL).
His appointment will take effect from the date of approval and will continue until the end of his tenure as Executive Director of Indian Bank or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He succeeds Mr. Sanjay Rudra.
Ashutosh Choudhury Takes Charge as IIFCL Director
Mr. Ashutosh Choudhury assumed office as Executive Director of Indian Bank on May 3, 2023.
He is an MBA professional and a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers. With more than two decades of banking experience, he has held senior positions across various banking functions.
Before becoming Executive Director of Indian Bank, Choudhury was serving as Chief General Manager and Group Chief Risk Officer (CRO) at Punjab National Bank.

Extensive Experience Across Public Sector Banks
During his career, Choudhury has served in various offices of four public sector banks:
- Punjab National Bank
- e-Oriental Bank of Commerce
- e-United Bank of India
- e-Allahabad Bank
His professional experience covers several key areas of banking and financial services, including:
- Enterprise risk management
- Strategic planning
- MSME and retail credit
- Corporate credit
- Treasury operations
- Fintech and digital banking
- Microfinance and financial inclusion
- Balance sheet management
- Profit-centric banking operations
His diverse experience is expected to bring extensive banking and financial-sector expertise to the IIFCL Board.
Leadership and Board-Level Experience
Choudhury has also completed the Executive Leadership Development Programme at IIM Bangalore, adding to his professional and leadership credentials.
He previously served as a Director on the Board of PNB Gilts, a subsidiary of Punjab National Bank. PNB Gilts functions as a Primary Dealer (PD) in India’s capital and debt markets.
His experience in risk management, credit, treasury, digital banking and capital markets gives him a broad understanding of the financial sector.
Ashutosh Choudhury Succeeds Sanjay Rudra
The Central Government’s nomination makes Choudhury the Government Nominee Director representing a Scheduled Commercial Bank on the IIFCL Board.
He succeeds Mr. Sanjay Rudra in the position.
The appointment will remain effective for the specified tenure, subject to the applicable government orders.
