NEW DELHI/MUMBAI: India Post and UTI Mutual Fund have strengthened their longstanding partnership by extending their existing agreement to expand Know Your Customer (KYC) verification services across the country. The collaboration aims to improve investor outreach, enhance access to mutual fund services and make the KYC process more convenient, particularly for people in remote and underserved areas.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on October 29, 2026, at the corporate office of UTI Asset Management Company (UTI AMC) in Mumbai.

The agreement was signed by Adnan Ahmed, Chief General Manager, Parcel and CCS Directorate, Department of Posts, and Vetri Subramaniam, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of UTI Asset Management Company Limited.

India Post to Facilitate Doorstep KYC Verification

Under the Pan-India KYC Verification Project, India Post will utilise its extensive postal network and last-mile connectivity to facilitate KYC verification at investors’ doorsteps.

The initiative is designed to make the verification process more accessible and convenient for mutual fund investors, including those living in geographically remote and underserved locations.

Through this collaboration, India Post will help investors complete the required KYC verification process while supporting compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.

Partnership Builds on Earlier KYC Remediation Initiative

The expanded agreement builds on the earlier KYC remediation initiative undertaken by India Post and UTI Mutual Fund.

The previous collaboration helped investors complete pending KYC requirements, improve compliance and address documentation-related gaps. The extended partnership aims to further strengthen these efforts and provide improved investor services.

By expanding the scope of KYC verification, the two organisations intend to make it easier for investors to complete necessary formalities and maintain uninterrupted access to mutual fund investments.

Focus on Financial Inclusion and Investor Convenience

The partnership reflects the shared commitment of India Post and UTI Mutual Fund to expanding access to financial services across the country.

India Post’s nationwide presence and extensive postal network are expected to play an important role in reaching investors who may have limited access to conventional financial service channels.

The initiative is also expected to:

  • Improve access to KYC verification services across India.
  • Make the verification process more convenient through doorstep services.
  • Strengthen investor servicing and regulatory compliance.
  • Encourage wider participation in mutual fund investments.
  • Improve access to financial services in remote and underserved areas.

India Post’s Role in Expanding Financial Services

With its extensive nationwide postal network and last-mile connectivity, India Post plays an important role in delivering accessible services to people across urban, rural and remote regions.

Through its partnership with UTI Mutual Fund, the Department of Posts aims to further strengthen its role in providing customer-centric financial services and supporting wider participation in the country’s financial ecosystem.

The expanded collaboration is expected to improve the KYC experience for investors while supporting financial inclusion and easier access to mutual fund investments across India.
