New Delhi: In a key development for India’s premier investigative agency, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the elevation of two senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to the post of Joint Director in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The appointments were formalized through an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday.
Kuldeep Dwivedi Appointed Joint Director, CBI
Kuldeep Dwivedi (IPS: 2005: Jharkhand cadre), who is currently serving as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the CBI, has been promoted to the post of Joint Director.
His appointment will remain effective till the end of his current deputation tenure, i.e., January 17, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
C. Venkata Subba Reddy Also Elevated to Joint Director
C. Venkata Subba Reddy (IPS: 2007: Assam-Meghalaya cadre), also serving as DIG in CBI, has been appointed as Joint Director, CBI.
His deputation tenure is valid till October 29, 2029, marking a five-year term, or until further instructions are issued.
Significance of Appointments
The elevation of these officers comes at a time when the CBI is handling several high-profile investigations across sectors, including economic offenses, cybercrime, and anti-corruption cases. The appointment of experienced officers like Dwivedi and Reddy is expected to strengthen leadership capacity within the agency and accelerate decision-making at the senior level.
Both officers bring extensive field experience and have played instrumental roles in major probes during their tenure with the CBI.
