According to a personnel ministry directive, Gujarat cadre IPS officer V Chandrasekhar was appointed as the joint director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday.
Chandrasekhar had earlier served as superintendent of police and deputy inspector general in the central investigation agency.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved his appointment to the post of joint director, CBI for a period of five years, the order said.
