Officials cited concerns that reinstating the officer at this stage could potentially lead to:
- Tampering with evidence
- Influencing witnesses
- Interference with the course of the investigation
The government maintained that keeping the officer under suspension was necessary in the larger interest of a fair and impartial probe.
Background of the Case
The criminal case against Vishal Gunni relates to allegations that he failed to properly supervise the investigation conducted by the Ibrahimpatnam Police in a case registered against actress Kadambari Jethwani in 2024.
The matter had triggered significant attention after allegations emerged regarding procedural irregularities and the manner in which the investigation was handled.
Authorities are examining whether there were supervisory failures during the investigation process and whether established legal procedures were followed.
DGP Directed to Take Necessary Action
In its latest order, the Andhra Pradesh government directed the Director General of Police and Head of Police Force (DGP-HoPF) to take necessary action in accordance with the extension of suspension.
The order ensures that the suspension remains in force while investigative agencies continue examining the allegations against the officer.
Investigation Continues
Officials have not disclosed a timeline for completion of the investigation. The case remains under scrutiny, and further administrative or legal action will depend on the findings of the ongoing probe.
The extension of suspension indicates that the government considers the investigation to be at a sensitive stage and intends to prevent any possibility of interference until the inquiry reaches its conclusion.
