IRCON International Limited, a prominent public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, has been awarded a significant Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract by the Directorate of Urban Affairs, Government of Meghalaya. This contract involves the construction of a new Secretariat Complex along with the necessary campus infrastructure in New Shillong City.
Joint Venture with Badri Rai and Company
The project will be executed through a joint venture between IRCON and Badri Rai and Company. IRCON holds a 26 percent stake, while Badri Rai and Company possesses the remaining 74 percent. The total value of the contract is Rs 1,096.17 crore, which includes GST, with IRCON’s share amounting to Rs 285 crore. The project is expected to be completed within 36 months.
Enhancing Administrative Infrastructure
The Directorate of Urban Affairs awarded this contract as part of its broader initiative to improve administrative infrastructure in the region. The construction of the new Secretariat Complex is poised to make a substantial contribution to the urban development of New Shillong City.
