IREDA Appoints J.V.N. Subramanyam as Government Nominee Director to Strengthen Board Leadership 

Appointment strengthens IREDA’s governance as experienced IAS officer takes charge to support India’s renewable energy growth mission

New Delhi: Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) has appointed Mr. J.V.N. Subramanyam, Joint Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), as a Government Nominee Director on its Board.

The appointment was conveyed through an order issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy dated July 23, 2026 and was approved by the IREDA Board at its meeting held on July 24, 2026.

Mr. Subramanyam will continue as Government Nominee Director until the appointment of three vacant Functional Directors is completed or until further orders from the appointing authority, whichever occurs earlier.

Appointment Aims to Ensure Continuity in IREDA’s Board Governance

The appointment comes as part of the government’s efforts to strengthen leadership and ensure effective governance at key renewable energy institutions.

With the interim appointment of Mr. Subramanyam, IREDA will continue to have government representation on its Board while the process of filling vacant functional leadership positions is underway.

The company stated that the appointment is subject to the completion of the recruitment process for the three Functional Director posts.

Mr. J.V.N. Subramanyam Brings Over 18 Years of Administrative Experience

Mr. J.V.N. Subramanyam is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer with more than 18 years of experience across various areas of government administration.

He has worked extensively in sectors including:

  • Renewable energy.
  • Public financial management.
  • Industrial and infrastructure development.
  • Healthcare administration.
  • Governance reforms.

He is currently serving as Joint Secretary at MNRE, where he contributes to policy initiatives and programmes related to India’s renewable energy growth.

Previous Key Government Assignments of J.V.N. Subramanyam

Before joining the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Mr. Subramanyam held several important positions in both Central and State governments.

His previous roles include:

  • Director, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, handling financial market policy and international economic engagements.
  • Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (APIIC).
  • Commissioner of Industries, Andhra Pradesh.
  • Chief Executive Officer, Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board.
  • Mission Director, National Health Mission, Assam.
  • Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, Goalpara, Assam.

His diverse administrative experience covers economic policy, infrastructure development, industrial growth, and public welfare programmes.

Strong Academic Background and Public Service Recognition

Mr. J.V.N. Subramanyam is a highly qualified professional with expertise in finance, governance, and public policy.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Chartered Accountant.
  • Cost Accountant.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce.
  • Master’s degree in Public Policy.
  • Chevening Gurukul Fellowship in Leadership from King’s College London.

He secured All India First Rank in both Chartered Accountancy and Cost Accountancy examinations.

He has also received several national and state-level awards for excellence in public service, innovation, and governance.

IREDA Submits Regulatory Disclosure to Stock Exchanges

IREDA informed the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and BSE Limited about the appointment in compliance with SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements (LODR) Regulations, 2015.

The company confirmed that necessary statutory procedures related to the appointment are being completed.

No financial or operational changes were announced along with the Board appointment.

Appointment Supports India’s Renewable Energy Growth Mission

The appointment of Mr. Subramanyam is expected to strengthen IREDA’s governance framework at a time when India is accelerating its renewable energy expansion.

His experience in policy, infrastructure, finance, and administration is expected to support the organisation’s long-term objectives in renewable energy financing and sustainable development.
