New Delhi: The Central Government has approved two key personnel decisions involving senior civil servants. Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer Zenia Gupta has been appointed as Director in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), while Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA&AS) officer Sanjay Kumar has received a one-year extension in his tenure as Additional Financial Adviser (FA) & Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Defence (Finance).

The appointments were notified through separate orders issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on July 22, 2026.

Zenia Gupta Appointed Director in Ministry of Corporate Affairs

Zenia Gupta (IRTS:2010) has been appointed as Director in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs under the Central Staffing Scheme.

According to the DoPT order, the competent authority has approved her appointment for a period of five years from the date she assumes charge of the post, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Gupta was recommended for central deputation by the Ministry of Railways. Her appointment is expected to strengthen the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, which oversees corporate governance, company law administration, and regulatory affairs in India.

Sanjay Kumar Gets One-Year Extension in Defence Ministry

In another significant personnel decision, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a one-year extension in the central deputation tenure of Sanjay Kumar (IA&AS:1995).

Kumar is currently serving as Additional Financial Adviser (FA) & Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Defence (Finance).

As per the DoPT notification, his tenure has been extended beyond August 31, 2026, for one year or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

The extension was approved based on a proposal submitted by the Ministry of Defence.

Strengthening Key Ministries

The two appointments reflect the Centre’s continued focus on ensuring experienced officers occupy critical positions across ministries.

While Zenia Gupta will take on a key leadership role in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs under the Central Staffing Scheme, Sanjay Kumar will continue to oversee important financial advisory responsibilities in the Defence Ministry, contributing to financial management and policy implementation in one of the government’s most strategic departments.
