Hotel Division Remains a Key Revenue Driver
The Hotel Division continued to contribute the largest share of ITDC’s revenue and operating profit during the quarter.
The company said its performance was supported by steady growth across multiple business segments, including:
- Hospitality
- Air Ticketing
- Duty-Free Operations
- Consultancy
- Other tourism-related services
ITDC also highlighted ongoing capacity-building initiatives and digital governance efforts as part of its focus on operational efficiency and customer-centric service delivery.
Audit Observations Highlight Long-Pending Issues
Despite stable financial performance, ITDC’s limited review report contains several emphasis-of-matter observations concerning long-pending financial and property-related matters.
These include:
- ₹12.93 crore in unbilled licence fees relating to the Covid period.
- Unrecovered dues from the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).
- Property tax-related disputes with the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
- Unreconciled receivables.
- Expired licence agreements that continue to be billed.
- Pending final accounts related to the Maha Kumbh tent project.
These matters continue to require resolution and remain areas of focus for the corporation.
Audit Committee Quorum Issue Continues
ITDC also continues to have only one Independent Director, resulting in the Audit Committee being unable to meet the required quorum.
Consequently, the company’s financial results were placed directly before the Board of Directors for approval.
The governance-related issue remains another matter highlighted alongside the financial results.
Disinvestment of Properties Yet to Gain Momentum
Progress on the proposed disinvestment and transfer of ITDC properties remains slow.
Hotel Ashok is currently being evaluated for possible operations and maintenance (O&M) or sub-leasing arrangements.
Meanwhile, several other properties remain at different stages of discussions and transfer processes involving state governments and central ministries.
These include:
- Janpath
- Kalinga Ashok
- Ranchi Ashok
- Jammu Ashok
The delays in resolving these property-related matters continue to weigh on the company’s broader strategic restructuring plans.
ITDC Strengthens AI and Cybersecurity Initiatives
Alongside its business performance, ITDC has strengthened its focus on technology-led transformation.
As part of its commitment to the India AI Mission and Cyber Surakshit Bharat, the corporation organised the ‘AI Champions for Digital Governance’ programme for senior leadership of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
The initiative focused on strengthening institutional capabilities in artificial intelligence, digital governance and cybersecurity while promoting safer digital practices.
MD Mugdha Sinha Highlights Data-Driven Growth
Commenting on the Q1 results, Mugdha Sinha, IAS, Managing Director, ITDC, said the performance reflected the corporation’s continued focus on operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making.
She also highlighted ITDC’s efforts to strengthen institutional capacity through initiatives covering digital governance, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.
Going forward, the corporation plans to focus on strategic commercial partnerships, technology-led innovation and service excellence to support the growth of India’s tourism sector.
ITDC to Focus on Strategic Partnerships and Innovation
Looking ahead, ITDC said it will continue strengthening its business portfolio through strategic partnerships, technology-driven innovation and data-based decision-making.
The corporation plans to focus on operational excellence and sustainable value creation across its key business areas, including:
- Hospitality
- Travel and ticketing
- Consultancy
- Events
- Duty-free operations
These initiatives are aligned with the broader vision of Viksit Bharat and India’s growing tourism economy.
