Ranchi: The Jharkhand government has promoted six Indian Police Service (IPS) officers of the 2013 cadre to the Selection Grade (Senior Superintendent of Police – SSP rank), according to a notification issued by the Home Department on Friday. This promotion elevates the officers from SP to Senior SP grade and makes them eligible for posting as In-Charge Deputy Inspector General (DIG), if the state government decides so.
Officers Posted in Jharkhand Receive Key Promotions
Among the officers receiving the promotion, Hrideep P Janardanan, SP of the Special Branch, and Nidhi Dwivedi, SP of Pakur, are currently serving in Jharkhand. Their elevation to Selection Grade recognizes their service record and positions them for higher responsibilities within the state police hierarchy.

Proforma Promotion for Officers on Central Deputation
Four of the six promoted officers are currently serving on central deputation. They have been granted proforma promotions, which is a standard practice allowing officers to receive grade elevation while serving outside their parent cadre.
The officers on central deputation include:
- Harilal Chauhan, Assistant Director at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA)
- Anshuman Kumar, Joint Deputy Director at Intelligence Bureau (IB)
- Prashant Anand, SP at National Investigation Agency (NIA)
- Priyanka Meena, SP at National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB)

With this promotion, the officers not only receive the benefits associated with Selection Grade (SSP rank) but also become eligible for senior postings, including DIG-level responsibilities. The Home Department’s notification ensures that the state government can assign them higher roles based on operational requirements and performance.
