Ranchi: The Government of Jharkhand has taken a major step toward promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and job creation by signing a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with XLRI – Xavier School of Management.

Under the agreement, the Jharkhand Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (JIIDC) and XLRI will jointly set up a modern startup incubation centre in the state. The initiative aims to provide a structured platform for young entrepreneurs to develop and scale their business ideas.

Focus on Innovation, Employment and Startup Growth

The initiative is aligned with the vision of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, aiming to strengthen entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems in Jharkhand.

Industries Secretary Arwa Rajkamal stated that the collaboration will help create institutional support for startups and enable youth-led ideas to transform into successful business ventures.

A key part of the MoU includes a detailed study on opportunities in forest-based industries and the circular economy.

The focus areas will include:

  • Non-timber forest products
  • Agro-processing industries
  • Recycling-based enterprises
  • Waste-to-wealth business models

Experts believe Jharkhand’s rich forest resources and agricultural potential can unlock significant opportunities for sustainable development and employment generation.

Support System for Startups in Jharkhand

The proposed incubation centre will provide end-to-end support for startups, including:

  • Mentorship and entrepreneurship training
  • Access to investors and funding networks
  • Market linkage and business development support
  • Seed funding opportunities

The centre will encourage innovation across sectors such as manufacturing, mining technology, agri-business, clean energy, logistics, and forest-based products.

Key Officials Present at MoU Signing

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by several senior officials and dignitaries, including Sanjay Patro, Raghuram Tata, Kalayan Bhaskar, and other industry experts. The agreement was formally signed in the presence of Varun Ranjan.

Jharkhand is actively focusing on industrial development, skill enhancement, and entrepreneurship promotion to generate employment opportunities and drive sustainable economic growth across the state.
