Thissur: The Magistrate suspended fake medical bill case has raised serious questions about integrity in the judiciary. A Judicial First Class Magistrate, Tiara Rose Mary in Thrissur has been suspended after allegedly submitting forged documents for a medical reimbursement claim.

Acting on the matter, the Kerala High Court initiated an inquiry and found major irregularities. The case highlights the importance of transparency, accountability, and strict adherence to rules in the judicial system.

The controversy began when she submitted a reimbursement claim for expenses reportedly linked to “beauty-related” treatment. Such claims are typically not allowed under government medical reimbursement rules.

  • The claim was first sent to the District Medical Officer (DMO)
  • The DMO rejected it at the initial stage
  • Later, a bill was forwarded to the High Court for reimbursement

This raised suspicion about the authenticity of the documents.

The Kerala High Court directed a detailed investigation through the Registrar (District Judiciary).

Key Findings:

  • The bill contained a fake DMO seal
  • The signature on the document was forged
  • Supporting documents were found to be fabricated

Based on these findings, the High Court concluded that the claim was not genuine.

Disciplinary Action Taken

Following the inquiry:

  • The High Court’s administrative committee initiated disciplinary proceedings
  • The magistrate was suspended for six months
  • Further action will depend on the outcome of the departmental inquiry

This step reflects the judiciary’s strict stance on maintaining ethical conduct and financial accountability.

This is not the first time the Tiara Rose Mary has been in the spotlight. In 2024, she approached the High Court alleging harassment by a senior officer, the Chief Judicial Magistrate at Kottayam.

That incident had already drawn attention to administrative issues within the judicial system.
