New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a two-year extension of the central deputation tenure of Kamal Saxena, Joint Secretary at the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) at Director level.
His tenure, under the Central Staffing Scheme, has been extended beyond September 27, 2026, up to September 27, 2028, according to the latest appointment information.
Kamal Saxena Has Served at UPSC Since 2021
Kamal Saxena was appointed Joint Secretary (Director level) in the UPSC in September 2021 for an initial five-year tenure. He is a 2005-batch Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS) officer.

With the latest extension, Saxena will continue in the UPSC until September 2028, unless the tenure is curtailed earlier in accordance with the applicable order.
Kamal Saxena is serving as Joint Secretary at the UPSC and has participated in Commission activities, including a blood donation camp organised at UPSC Bhawan in April 2026.
Who Is Kamal Saxena?
Kamal Saxena belongs to the 2005 batch of the Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS). He entered the UPSC Secretariat on central deputation in 2021 as Joint Secretary at Director level.
Tenure Extended Until September 2028
The ACC-approved extension keeps Saxena at the UPSC for another two years beyond the completion of his original five-year deputation period.
The extension is part of the Central Staffing Scheme, under which eligible officers from different organised services can be posted to senior positions in the Central Government and its organisations.
