BENGALURU: The Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) is set to revamp its recruitment and examination process with a focus on greater transparency, technology-driven systems and faster declaration of results.
At a meeting held on Friday, the Commission discussed several measures aimed at speeding up recruitment while making the examination process more transparent for candidates.
The meeting also saw Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) Executive Director H Prasanna take charge as the new Controller of Examinations.
According to the Commission, the objective is to complete the selection process and announce results within three to five months by leveraging technology and improving transparency in examination systems.
KPSC to Study UPSC Examination System
As part of the proposed reforms, the KPSC meeting decided to undertake an assessment of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination system in the coming days.
The exercise is aimed at identifying practices that can potentially be adopted by KPSC to improve its own recruitment framework.
The Commission said an unanimous decision was taken to align its functioning with the government’s vision by adopting UPSC-style transparency, modern technology and a fast-track recruitment framework.
The broader objective is to ensure that eligible candidates are selected and appointed without unnecessary delays.
Results Targeted Within Three to Five Months
One of the major objectives discussed at the meeting is to significantly reduce the time taken to complete recruitment examinations and announce final results.
The Commission intends to complete the overall selection process and declare results within three to five months.

OMR Sheets to Be Scanned Immediately After Exams
KPSC is also planning significant changes in the handling of OMR answer sheets.
Immediately after recruitment examinations are completed, the OMR sheets will be scanned using scanning machines available in the respective districts.
The scanned answer sheets will then be uploaded to the official KPSC website.
This system is intended to improve transparency in the evaluation process and give candidates greater access to their examination records.
Candidates Will Be Able to Verify Their OMR Sheets
Under the proposed system, candidates will be able to verify their own OMR answer sheets through the KPSC’s official website.
The move is aimed at providing candidates with greater confidence in the examination and evaluation process.
Making OMR records accessible could also help reduce doubts and complaints relating to marking, incorrect recording of answers or other examination-related discrepancies.
Results Within One Week of Examination
KPSC is also considering an ambitious timeline for the declaration of examination results.
According to the Commission’s proposed system, measures will be taken to publish results within one week of the completion of the examination.
