Greater Noida: Uttar Pradesh is set to receive another major investment commitment from LuLu Group, with the international retail conglomerate announcing plans to invest an additional ₹10,000 crore in the state. The announcement came alongside the opening of its new hypermarket at IThums Galleria Mall in Greater Noida, marking the group’s entry into the Delhi-NCR retail market.
LuLu Group International Chairman Yusuff Ali MA said the group had already invested ₹10,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh and was preparing to invest another ₹10,000 crore. He also indicated that four additional projects were in progress in the state.
The announcement signals the group’s intention to expand its presence in Uttar Pradesh beyond its existing operations. However, details of the four proposed projects, including their locations, sectors, individual investment amounts and implementation schedules, have not yet been disclosed.
Greater Noida Gets 1-Lakh-Square-Foot LuLu Hypermarket
The new hypermarket, spread across approximately 100,000 square feet, is located at IThums Galleria Mall in Sector Alpha II, Greater Noida. It was inaugurated on October 18 in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Rakesh Sachan, Minister of State Sanjay Singh Gangwar and senior LuLu Group officials.

The store extends the group’s retail footprint in Uttar Pradesh, where it already operates the LuLu Mall in Lucknow. Its Greater Noida outlet also marks the group’s entry into the Delhi-NCR retail market.
The large-format store brings multiple retail categories under one roof, serving customers in Greater Noida, Noida and neighbouring parts of the National Capital Region.
Four More Projects Planned in Uttar Pradesh
The proposed additional investment of ₹10,000 crore could further expand LuLu Group’s business presence in Uttar Pradesh. The announcement follows the group’s existing investments in the state and the opening of its new Greater Noida outlet.
The company has not yet provided a project-wise breakdown of the proposed investment. It is therefore unclear how much of the announced amount will go towards retail infrastructure and how much will be allocated to other business activities.
The four projects reportedly under preparation represent the next phase of the group’s expansion plans. Their locations, investment structures and expected completion dates remain to be announced.
The distinction between an investment announcement and completed investment is important: the additional ₹10,000 crore is a stated future investment plan, rather than a report of funds already deployed.
Uttar Pradesh Seeks to Attract Investment Across Sectors
LuLu Group’s expansion comes as Uttar Pradesh continues to position itself as a destination for domestic and international businesses.
The state’s investment-promotion framework highlights its large consumer market, industrial land availability, transport connectivity and sector-specific policies as factors intended to attract investors. Its official investment-promotion agency, Invest UP, also identifies LuLu Group among the global and Indian brands operating in the state.
For retailers, Uttar Pradesh offers access to a substantial consumer base across major urban centres. The Greater Noida outlet adds to the organised retail infrastructure available in the National Capital Region, while the proposed investment could extend the group’s presence further if the projects proceed.
The latest announcement is one example of how the state is seeking to attract and retain businesses by combining its consumer-market potential with infrastructure and investment-promotion initiatives.
Retail Expansion Could Support Local Supply Chains
Beyond its retail operations, LuLu Group’s presence in Uttar Pradesh also connects with the state’s agricultural and food-supply networks.
Yusuff Ali has referred to the group’s sourcing of fruits, vegetables and other food products from Uttar Pradesh for export. Such sourcing can connect local producers and suppliers with organised retail and wider distribution networks, although the company has not disclosed the scale of procurement or the number of suppliers involved.
The new Greater Noida hypermarket offers fresh produce alongside groceries, imported food products, household goods and electronics. Its product range reflects the group’s large-format retail model, which combines everyday shopping with specialised product categories.
The scale of any additional benefit to local producers will depend on procurement arrangements and the implementation of the group’s future plans.
What the New Investment Announcement Means for Uttar Pradesh
LuLu Group’s proposed additional investment comes as the company expands its retail presence from Lucknow into Greater Noida. The new outlet strengthens its position in Uttar Pradesh’s organised retail market, while the four projects under preparation point to further expansion.
The immediate development is the opening of the Greater Noida hypermarket. The next major milestone will be the disclosure of details about the proposed ₹10,000 crore investment, including the projects involved, their locations and implementation timelines.
For Uttar Pradesh, the announcement adds to its efforts to attract business investment. The extent of the proposed investment’s contribution to employment, retail infrastructure and local supply chains will become clearer as the company moves from its announcement to project-level implementation.
