Bhopal: In a landmark decision for women’s welfare, the Madhya Pradesh Government, under Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, has amended state pension rules to allow divorced daughters to claim their parents’ family pension. The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting on Tuesday at the state secretariat.

Key Decision on Family Pension

The cabinet approved a major revision in the state pension regulations, ensuring that divorced daughters, along with unmarried and widowed daughters, are eligible for family pension.

Industry Minister Chaitanya Kashyap informed the media that the move prioritizes social welfare and provides financial support to women who return to their parental homes after divorce.

Addressing Economic Security for Women

Previously, technical provisions in the pension rules excluded divorced daughters, leaving many women economically vulnerable. With this amendment, thousands of women across Madhya Pradesh will gain direct financial support, promoting their independence and security.

The government emphasized that the decision is not merely administrative but a step towards respect, safety, and self-reliance for women, strengthening social protection for a sensitive segment of society.

Simplified Pension Procedures

CM Dr. Mohan Yadav shared the cabinet decision on his official handles, highlighting that:

  • Family pension eligibility now includes unmarried, widowed, and divorced daughters
  • Retired employees will benefit from simplified pension summarization
  • Pension processes will become streamlined and time-bound to ensure faster disbursal

Boost to Women Empowerment

This decision reflects Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to women’s empowerment, social justice, and economic security, marking a significant step toward inclusive welfare policies.

By enabling divorced daughters to access family pension, the state ensures sustainable financial support, helping them lead a dignified and independent life.
