Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has announced plans to modernise forest management through advanced technology and fill vacant posts in the Forest Department. The government has also promoted 4,506 forest officials and employees.
New Recruitment for Forest Department
Dr Yadav said 25,389 posts are sanctioned in the Forest Department, while more than 18,000 employees are currently working. Recruitment will be carried out to fill vacancies created after promotions.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a felicitation programme for promoted Forest Department employees at the Indian Institute of Forest Management in Bhopal.

4,506 Employees Promoted
The promotions include 188 Assistant Conservators of Forests, 2,821 Foresters, 761 Deputy Forest Rangers and 736 employees from other cadres.
Calling field personnel “green soldiers”, Dr Yadav praised their role in protecting forests, wildlife, water resources and biodiversity.
Technology to Strengthen Wildlife Protection
The Forest Department is using technology for conservation, including the Gaj Rakshak AI system for elephant monitoring, forest mapping for PM Gati Shakti projects and technology-based support for the Cheetah Project.
Madhya Pradesh has 9 tiger reserves and 26 wildlife sanctuaries, with forests covering 30.72% of its geographical area.
Over 5.62 Crore Saplings Planted
Under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative, more than 5.62 crore saplings have been planted in the state this year. The government has also approved 94 Van Vatikas across 43 districts.
The initiative combines staff strengthening, technology adoption and conservation measures to improve forest management and protect Madhya Pradesh’s rich biodiversity.
