Bhopal: In a late-night administrative reshuffle, the Madhya Pradesh government has issued transfer and posting orders for seven senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, including officers of the Additional Director General (ADG) and Inspector General (IG) ranks.
The changes, announced by the Home Department on Wednesday, involve key modifications to the roles of several senior officers, including Rajababu Singh, D.P. Gupta, K.P. Venkateshwar Rao, and Irshad Wali.
Rajababu Singh Assigned Solely to Training
As per the order, ADG (Training) PHQ and ADG (Complaints and Human Rights) PHQ (Additional Charge), Rajababu Singh, will now exclusively hold the position of ADG (Training) PHQ. His previous additional responsibilities related to Complaints and Human Rights have been withdrawn.
The move effectively limits his role to training responsibilities within the Police Headquarters.
Irshad Wali Gets Additional Charge of SAF Bhopal Range
IG (SAF) PHQ Irshad Wali has been entrusted with the additional charge of IG (SAF) Bhopal Range as well as IG (SAF) Police Headquarters, Bhopal.
Wali, a senior IPS officer known for his field experience, will now oversee multiple wings within the Special Armed Force setup.
Additional Responsibilities for D.P. Gupta and Venkateshwar Rao
ADG D.P. Gupta, who currently oversees Human Rights and Complaints PHQ, has been given additional charge of Community Policing, RTI, Cooperative Fraud, Public Service Guarantee, Police Manual, R&D, and Police Reforms PHQ.
The expanded portfolio significantly increases his administrative purview within the state police establishment.
Meanwhile, ADG (Narcotics) K.P. Venkateshwar Rao has been assigned additional charge as ADG (Technical Services) PHQ, enhancing his supervisory role over technical and operational modernization efforts.
Other Key Changes Among IG-Rank Officers
Several Inspector General (IG)-rank officers have also been assigned new or additional responsibilities as part of the reshuffle –
- Sushant Saxena, IG (EOW) Bhopal, will now also serve as IG (Investigation) PHQ.
- Chaitra N, IG (Complaints and Human Rights), has been given the charge of IG (SCRB) PHQ.
- Kumar Saurabh, IG (AJAK) PHQ, will hold additional charge of IG (SISF) and IG (AJAK).
Administrative Significance of the Reshuffle
This latest reshuffle underscores the state government’s efforts to streamline administrative efficiency at the senior police leadership level and strengthen functional coordination between key departments such as training, technical services, and human rights.
The transfers also reflect an internal reorganization within the Police Headquarters (PHQ) to align responsibilities with evolving operational and administrative priorities.
