Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has directed coordinated efforts between the Skill Development & Employment Department and the Tourism Department to create large-scale employment opportunities for youth through innovative and sector-linked training models.
Chairing a high-level review meeting in Bhopal, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for continuous innovation in employment generation and skill development aligned with industry and service sector demand.
Tourism Sector to Become Major Employment Driver
CM Yadav highlighted Madhya Pradesh’s strong potential in religious, natural, and heritage tourism, stating that the sector can generate significant job opportunities if properly structured.
He proposed strengthening:
- Tourist guide training systems
- Culinary and hospitality-related skill development
- Multi-department coordination for tourism-linked employment
He said integrating tourism with skill development would open large-scale employment avenues for youth across the state.
Industrial Training Institutes Expanded; Record Admissions in 2025
The Chief Minister noted significant expansion in ITI infrastructure and enrollment:
- 5,840 new ITI seats added in two years
- 49,402 admissions recorded in 2025, the highest ever
- Strong increase in female participation through reservation reforms
He also reviewed ongoing reforms aimed at aligning training with industrial requirements.
Major Skill Development Achievements Highlighted
During the review meeting, several key achievements were presented:
- 18,403 trainees placed in jobs through placement drives in 2 years
- 2127 tribal women trained with support from UN Women across 12 districts
- 3,25,000+ youth benefited through the “Yuva Sangam” initiative
- Divyang trainees also included in structured training programs
- Multiple national-level awards for training officers
The government also reported growing success in international skill exposure programs for youth.
International Recognition in Cyber Security Skills
Madhya Pradesh showcased global-level talent in skill competitions. A notable achievement included:
- A state youth winning recognition in cyber security at an international World Skills competition in France (2024)
- Strong performance in national and regional skill competitions with multiple medals
CM Yadav said such achievements reflect the growing global competitiveness of Madhya Pradesh’s youth.
Global Skill Park to Expand Advanced Training Courses
The Global Skill Park, Bhopal, is emerging as a key advanced training hub. The Chief Minister reviewed its progress and ongoing programs, including:
- 9 advanced long-term courses in fields like robotics, mechatronics, and automobile technology
- Target of 3,000 certifications in 2026–27
- Focus on modern industry-relevant technical education
Factory-Based Training and Industry Collaboration Planned
CM Yadav directed that training institutes should also operate within industrial premises to improve job readiness.
Key directives included:
- Designing courses based on industry demand
- Expanding factory-based training models
- Strengthening “on-the-job” training and placement systems
- Preparing a consolidated report of employment generation across departments
He emphasized that both public and private sector employment contributions should be considered state achievements.
Women’s Participation and Innovative Training Models
The state has introduced several reforms to increase women’s participation and skill access:
- 35% reservation for women in ITIs (increased from 30%)
- Monthly “Yuva Sangam” events
- Women driving training programs
- Foreign language training for global job opportunities
These initiatives aim to make skill development more inclusive and employment-oriented.
Strengthening Rural and Cottage Industry Employment
CM Yadav also stressed expanding employment opportunities in rural and household industries, including:
- Promotion of silk and textile-based industries
- Integration of horticulture and sericulture (mulberry production)
- Support for cottage industries and home-based enterprises
- Model initiatives like jacket manufacturing in Guna district
He said such decentralized economic activities can significantly boost self-employment.
Skill Development as Key Driver of Youth Employment
The Chief Minister concluded that Madhya Pradesh must continuously innovate in skill development to meet evolving industry needs and global competition.
He reiterated that coordinated efforts between departments—especially tourism and skill development—will play a crucial role in generating sustainable employment for the state’s youth.
