Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, has released the 26th installment of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, a flagship scheme aimed at the economic and social empowerment of women across the state. This installment marks a significant milestone in the ongoing effort to support women financially and strengthen their participation in the state’s development.
Over Rs 641 Crore Transferred to Women Beneficiaries
Under the 26th installment, a total of Rs 641 crore 62 lakh 92 thousand has been transferred directly to the bank accounts of more than 68.48 lakh women. Among the beneficiaries, 7,773 women belong to villages covered under the Niyad Nellanar scheme, highlighting the government’s commitment to inclusive development.
As soon as the funds were credited, notifications of happiness lit up the mobile phones of the beneficiaries, reflecting the immediate impact of the scheme on women’s lives.
Mahtari Vandan Yojana: Empowering Women Since 2024
Launched in March 2024 under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and implemented by the Chhattisgarh government, the Mahtari Vandan Yojana provides financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per month to beneficiary women. Since its inception, the scheme has disbursed a total of Rs 16,881 crore to women, creating a robust support system for households across the state.
The scheme not only promotes economic independence but also strengthens women’s social empowerment, particularly in rural areas.
KYC Update Crucial for Seamless Payments
The Women and Child Development Department has emphasized that beneficiary women must complete their e-KYC to ensure uninterrupted receipt of funds. The e-KYC update process began on April 3 and will continue until June 30, 2026, facilitated by e-Governance Services India Limited.
- In rural areas, Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) are conducting KYC updates at Gram Panchayat buildings.
- In urban areas, updates are being carried out at Ward offices.
Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Lakshmi Rajwade has urged all beneficiaries whose KYC is pending to complete the process immediately to avoid disruption in receiving the financial assistance.
Scheme Coverage and Beneficiary Details
The total number of beneficiaries under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana is 68,94,633 women. Out of these, payment of the 26th installment has been successfully made to 68,48,899 women whose KYC is complete, demonstrating the government’s efficiency in executing welfare programs.
