New Delhi: The Centre has approved the inter-cadre transfer of 2024-batch IPS officer Manisha Nehra from Telangana to Haryana on marriage grounds.
Nehra, an IPS officer of the 2024 batch, was transferred on September 14, 2026, following her marriage to Gaurav, a 2024-batch Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer of the Haryana cadre.
The transfer was approved by the Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions under Sub-Rule (2) of Rule 5 of the Indian Police Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954. The provision allows inter-cadre transfer on grounds of marriage with the concurrence of the respective state governments.
Under the applicable All-India Services guidelines, officers who marry fellow members of the All-India Services may seek a cadre change to join their spouse’s cadre, subject to the prescribed conditions.
With the required clearances in place, Nehra is set to receive a fresh posting under the Haryana administration.
Who Is Manisha Nehra?
Manisha Nehra is a direct-recruit IPS officer of the 2024 batch. She entered the service after clearing the UPSC Civil Services Examination and was initially allocated the Telangana cadre.
Born on January 8, 1997, Nehra hails from Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan.
She is also understood to be the first woman from her family to become a government officer, marking a significant personal milestone.

Education
Nehra completed her Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Mathematics Honours from Hansraj College, University of Delhi.
She subsequently pursued a postgraduate degree in Geography before moving towards preparation for the civil services examination.
Her academic background in mathematics and geography preceded her entry into the Indian Police Service through the UPSC Civil Services Examination.
Entry Into the IPS
Nehra formally joined the Indian Police Service on December 9, 2024, and was allocated the Telangana cadre. Her IPS identity number is 20241134.
As part of her induction into the service, she underwent foundational training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) and subsequent orientation at the Telangana State Police Academy.
During her district practical training in Telangana in late 2025, she was initially designated for training in Mulugu district and was later moved to Warangal.
From Telangana to Haryana
The latest cadre change marks an important transition in Nehra’s early IPS career.
On September 14, 2026, the Centre approved her transfer from the Telangana cadre to Haryana following her marriage to Gaurav, a 2024-batch IFoS officer belonging to the Haryana cadre.
The inter-cadre transfer was approved under the Indian Police Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954, on marriage grounds and after the requisite concurrence and clearances.
Nehra will now continue her IPS career in the Haryana cadre, with her specific posting under the state police administration to be issued separately.
The transfer reflects the provisions available under the All-India Services framework for officers who marry members of another All-India Service and seek to serve in their spouse’s cadre, subject to applicable rules and conditions.
