Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath chaired a key Braj Vikas Parishad board meeting in Mathura to review the progress of the proposed ₹6,000 crore Heritage City project. The meeting focused on land acquisition, compensation rates, connectivity infrastructure and the next steps for selecting a private developer.

The ambitious project is planned under Phase 2 of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) expansion and will be developed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

4,500 Hectares Identified for Development

Around 4,500 hectares of land will be acquired for the connecting road and related development works. Of this, approximately 753 acres have been earmarked for the core Heritage City development along the proposed route.

Since the Heritage City project will be located close to the route proposed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), authorities are expected to maintain a uniform land compensation rate for YEIDA and NHAI acquisitions.

This approach is aimed at ensuring consistency in the land acquisition process and reducing differences in compensation for affected landowners.

New Road and Yamuna Bridge to Improve Connectivity

A major component of the project is a 15.3-km-long and 30-metre-wide road connecting NH-44 with the Yamuna Expressway.

The project will also include a suspension bridge over the Yamuna River, which will be constructed by the Uttar Pradesh Setu Nigam. Together, these infrastructure projects are expected to strengthen connectivity to the proposed Heritage City and improve access for visitors.

A 17.5-hectare parking complex is also planned near the main road. The facility will include restaurants and other visitor amenities, providing supporting infrastructure for tourists and pilgrims.

PPP Tender Process Moves Ahead

The PPP tender framework for the Heritage City project has already received approval from the PPP Tender Evaluation Committee.

The proposal will now be reviewed by the Committee of Secretaries led by the Cabinet Secretary. Following this review, it will be placed before the Uttar Pradesh State Cabinet for final approval.

Developer bids will be invited after the required approvals are completed.

Heritage and Tourism Infrastructure in Focus

The project is expected to give Mathura’s heritage and tourism infrastructure a major boost by combining improved connectivity with visitor facilities.

With new road links, a Yamuna bridge, large-scale parking and planned heritage-focused development, the project aims to improve access to important destinations in the Braj region while creating infrastructure for the growing number of visitors.

The progress review chaired by CM Yogi also indicates a focus on completing the land acquisition and approval processes before the project moves into its next implementation stage.
