Bhopal: On the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav addressed a major public event in Bhopal, emphasizing equality, women empowerment, and social harmony. He paid rich tributes to Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, calling the Indian Constitution one of the finest frameworks for ensuring justice and equality.
Tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and the Constitution
CM Yadav said that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar dedicated his life to eliminating centuries of social inequality and building a just society. He described Ambedkar’s contribution as a continuous source of inspiration for the nation.
He further stressed that all citizens should follow the principles of the Indian Constitution, which he called the strongest pillar of Indian democracy.
Focus on Women Empowerment and 33% Reservation
Highlighting Ambedkar’s vision for gender equality, the Chief Minister said that Babasaheb strongly supported women’s rights, including property rights, maternity benefits, and fair compensation laws.
He also mentioned that the government is actively working towards implementing 33% reservation for women in Parliament and State Assemblies under the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, aimed at strengthening women’s representation in governance.
Social Welfare Initiatives and Panchteerth Development
The Chief Minister said that the government has developed five key sites associated with Dr. Ambedkar as part of the Panchteerth initiative, aimed at preserving his legacy and inspiring future generations.
He also highlighted welfare schemes promoting social equality, including financial assistance of ₹2 lakh for inter-caste marriages to discourage caste discrimination. A significant portion of the state budget has been allocated for the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
Message of Social Harmony Through Community Feast
During the event, CM Yadav participated in a community feast with citizens, symbolizing unity and equality. He said such initiatives are not just ceremonial but help strengthen brotherhood and social harmony across communities.
Visit to Dr. Ambedkar Memorial in Mhow
Earlier, the Chief Minister visited the birth memorial of Dr. Ambedkar at Dr. Ambedkar Nagar (Mhow), where he paid floral tributes to the statue and the sacred relic urn.
He also reviewed arrangements at the memorial complex and appreciated the facilities provided to devotees, including free food, drinking water, and accommodation.
The Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations in Madhya Pradesh reflected a strong message of equality, empowerment, and constitutional values. CM Mohan Yadav reiterated the state government’s commitment to social justice and inclusive development inspired by Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy.
