Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav reviewed the performance of the Women and Child Development Department on June 1 at the state secretariat, stressing stronger public participation, transparency, and accountability in welfare schemes. He directed officials to ensure that benefits of government programs reach all eligible beneficiaries effectively.
Focus on Wider Awareness and Inter-Department Coordination
During the review meeting, CM Yadav instructed that all women- and child-related welfare schemes should be widely publicized to increase outreach and awareness among beneficiaries.
He emphasized coordinated efforts between multiple departments including:
- Health Department
- School Education Department
- Panchayat and Rural Development Department
- Private hospitals and institutions
The Chief Minister also directed officials to study successful models and innovations from other states and districts to develop a comprehensive action plan for implementation in Madhya Pradesh.
Strict Action Against Negligence, Incentives for Good Performance
CM Yadav called for recognition of officials and employees performing well at the field level. At the same time, he instructed strict action against negligence in the implementation of welfare schemes.
He underlined that accountability must be ensured at every level to improve delivery of services.
Expansion of Women’s Hostels and One-Stop Centres
The government is expanding infrastructure support for working women and vulnerable groups.
Key developments include:
- Construction of working women’s hostels under PPP mode in industrial areas
- Projects already started in Dewas, Narmadapuram, Jhabua, and Singrauli
- New One-Stop Centres approved in multiple districts including Indore, Dhar, and other locations
These centres aim to provide immediate support to crisis-affected women.
Child Protection and Helpline Services Expanded
Under the child protection framework, Madhya Pradesh has strengthened its support systems:
- 51 district-level and 1 state-level Child Helpline centres operational
- More than 66,000 children have received assistance so far
- Risk mapping of vulnerable children is ongoing in 13 districts
The state is also preparing to enhance monitoring and rapid response mechanisms for child welfare.
Innovative Education Initiatives and Child Development Programs
The government highlighted several initiatives focused on early childhood education and development:
- Graduation ceremonies conducted for 9.28 lakh children aged 5–6 years
- “Vidyarambh certificates” issued to mark school entry
- Initiative has received national-level recognition
- Plans underway for a Chief Minister Sports and Cultural Festival for children in care institutions
Additionally, 12,670 mini anganwadi centres have been upgraded into full anganwadi centres under the “Saksham Anganwadi Upgradation Programme,” placing Madhya Pradesh among leading states in the country.
Major Progress in Women Empowerment Schemes
The state reported significant achievements in women empowerment and financial assistance programs:
Ladli Behna Yojana
- Over 1.25 crore eligible women benefited
- ₹47,775 crore transferred between Jan 2024 and May 2026
Ladli Laxmi Yojana
- 15.84 lakh girls registered
- ₹537 crore disbursed as scholarships
Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana
- 15.51 lakh pregnant women covered
- ₹798.68 crore paid
- Madhya Pradesh has remained a national leader in implementation for over 2.5 years
Insurance Coverage and Nutritional Improvements
All anganwadi workers, mini workers, and assistants in the state have been brought under an insurance coverage scheme. Officials also presented updates on various district-level innovations aimed at improving nutrition indicators among women and children.
Government Push for Stronger Social Welfare Delivery
CM Mohan Yadav reiterated that the core objective of these programs is to ensure dignity, safety, and improved living standards for women and children across Madhya Pradesh through better coordination, transparency, and citizen participation.
