Indore: Indore witnessed a major leap toward technology-driven governance as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated the ‘District Drone Unit’ and launched the ‘Indore Traffic Sathi’ mobile application. The initiatives aim to enhance law enforcement efficiency, improve traffic management, and strengthen civic services through advanced digital tools.
18 High-Tech Drones Inducted for Smart Policing
During the event, the Chief Minister formally inducted 18 state-of-the-art drones and flagged off 10 new police vehicles for the Indore Police force. These drones will act as a “third eye” for the police, enabling continuous surveillance for:
- Law and order monitoring
- Crowd management
- Traffic regulation
- Crime detection and prevention
Officials said each drone can cover a surveillance radius of approximately 2 kilometers, significantly improving real-time monitoring capabilities.

‘Indore Traffic Sathi’ App to Improve Urban Mobility
CM Dr. Mohan Yadav also launched the ‘Indore Traffic Sathi’ mobile application, designed to help citizens navigate the city more efficiently. The app will provide real-time information on:
- Parking availability and locations
- Traffic updates
- Route assistance for smoother travel
The initiative is expected to reduce congestion and enhance urban mobility across Indore.
Three New Police Stations Announced in Indore
Responding to public representatives’ demands, the Chief Minister announced the establishment of three new police stations in Indore city. He also assured that police staffing shortages will be addressed in a phased manner.
The state government is currently recruiting approximately 22,500 police personnel annually to strengthen law enforcement across Madhya Pradesh.

Focus on Technology-Driven Policing and Governance
CM Yadav emphasized that technology is playing a transformative role in governance. He stated that while innovation brings opportunities, it also presents challenges, making responsible and effective use essential.
He highlighted that the concept of using drones in policing originated in Indore and is now being expanded as a model for other regions.
Vision of ‘Virasat Se Vikas’ and Smart Indore
The Chief Minister underlined the state’s development philosophy of “Virasat Se Vikas” (From Heritage to Development), linking Indore’s historical legacy with modern innovation.
He said Indore, inspired by the values of Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, is now emerging as a national example of smart governance, blending heritage with technological advancement.

Strengthening Law and Order with Innovation
Indore Police Commissioner Santosh Kumar Singh stated that the newly inducted drones have already been used successfully during major public events, including the Rangpanchami procession and law enforcement operations at Dhar’s Bhojshala.
He added that the drones will enhance surveillance in crowded areas and support crime control efforts more effectively.
Additionally, the police have already distributed over 4,370 free helmets as part of road safety initiatives.
