Patna: Regular bus services between Bihar and Haryana are set to begin soon, offering a direct, affordable and comfortable travel option for thousands of passengers travelling between the two states for work, business, education and other purposes.

The Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) has completed the tender process and purchased buses for the interstate service. Operations are expected to begin shortly.

AC Buses to Connect Major Cities

An interstate agreement signed between Bihar and Haryana in July 2026 paved the way for regular bus connectivity between the two states. Under the agreement, AC deluxe buses will operate on 12 major routes.

The proposed network will connect major Bihar cities such as Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga and Purnia with important Haryana destinations including Gurugram, Ambala and Panipat.

The service is expected to benefit a large number of Bihar residents living and working in Haryana and the Delhi-NCR region.

BSRTC Expands Bus Fleet

BSRTC is procuring 149 buses in phases, including 75 AC buses. Some of these AC buses will serve interstate routes, including Haryana.

The new services will provide passengers with a direct alternative for travelling between Bihar and Haryana, reducing dependence on multiple connections and helping make long-distance travel more convenient.

Focus on Migrants Ahead of Festivals

The Bihar government has been working to strengthen transport arrangements for migrant residents ahead of major festivals, particularly Durga Puja, Diwali and Chhath.

Transport Minister Damodar Rawat recently held discussions regarding route permits for special bus services between Bihar and Haryana. Following these efforts, permission has been secured for bus operations on the route.

BSRTC also plans to increase the number of buses during the festive season to manage the expected rise in passenger demand as migrants travel back to Bihar.

Regular Connectivity to Benefit Passengers

The proposed Bihar-Haryana bus service is expected to strengthen interstate connectivity for people travelling for employment, education, trade and other daily needs.

With regular services and AC buses planned on key routes, the initiative could make travel between Bihar and Haryana more accessible while also providing greater convenience to the large migrant population living in Haryana and nearby parts of the National Capital Region.
