Lucknow: In a major academic recognition event held at Lucknow’s Lok Bhavan, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath honored meritorious students from across the state for their outstanding performance in board examinations.
Students from the Uttar Pradesh Board, CBSE, ICSE/ISC, and Sanskrit Education Board were felicitated during the ceremony, marking one of the largest academic recognition programs in the state.
A total of 223 state-level toppers were awarded ₹1 lakh each along with tablets and certificates, while district-level toppers across all 75 districts received ₹21,000, medals, and appreciation certificates.
1,682 Students Honored Across State and District Levels
During the event, CM Yogi Adityanath announced that a total of 1,682 students were being honored simultaneously across Uttar Pradesh.
- 223 top-performing students were felicitated at the state level in Lucknow
- 1,459 district-level toppers were honored at district headquarters across the state
- Among the awardees, 85 were boys and 138 were girls at the state level alone
Officials highlighted that students from all 75 districts participated in the recognition process, making it a comprehensive statewide academic celebration.

Girls Outperform Boys in Merit Rankings
A key highlight of the results was the strong performance of girl students, who outnumbered boys in the merit list across both High School and Intermediate levels.
CM Yogi noted that:
- Girls showed higher representation in top rankings
- Their academic performance reflects growing educational empowerment
- The trend signals positive social change in Uttar Pradesh’s education system
He also encouraged students to draw inspiration from this development and work harder to achieve academic excellence.
Education Reforms and “Copy-Free” Examination System
Highlighting reforms over the past nine years, Yogi Adityanath emphasized that the state has successfully implemented a “copy-free examination system.”
He stated that:
- Exams are now conducted fairly without malpractice
- Results are declared within 14–15 days after examinations
- Approximately 5.6 million students appear in UP Board exams annually
- The education system has become more transparent and efficient
He contrasted the current system with earlier years when examination malpractice and proxy candidates were reportedly common.
Message to Students: Reduce Social Media, Focus on Studies
CM Yogi Adityanath advised students to prioritize learning and discipline over excessive digital engagement. His key suggestions included:
- Avoid unnecessary pressure on parents for smartphones
- Spend time on newspapers, digital libraries, and academic study
- Minimize social media usage due to misinformation risks
- Maintain healthy routines including sleep, diet, and physical activity
He emphasized that success does not depend on social media followers but on knowledge, discipline, and consistent effort.
“Sa Vidya Ya Vimuktaye”: Education for Liberation and Growth
Referring to ancient Indian philosophy, the Chief Minister quoted the Sanskrit phrase “Sa Vidya Ya Vimuktaye,” explaining that true education is that which liberates individuals from ignorance and prepares them to face life’s challenges.
He also highlighted cultural references from Indian epics, stating that guidance from gurus and mentors played a crucial role in shaping figures like Lord Rama and Lord Krishna, reinforcing the importance of teachers in nation-building.
Encouragement for Holistic Development and Future Goals
The Chief Minister urged students to:
- Use summer vacations productively
- Focus on physical fitness and discipline
- Explore sports, arts, and other co-curricular activities
- Inspire peers and contribute to society
He also encouraged students to set life goals early and work consistently toward achieving them.
The felicitation ceremony in Lucknow reflected the Uttar Pradesh government’s continued emphasis on educational reform and academic excellence.
