Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav extended his greetings to journalists, editors, media professionals, and all those associated with the media industry on the occasion of Hindi Journalism Day. He said that Hindi journalism has played a vital role in strengthening society, democracy, and nation-building over the past 200 years.

Hindi Journalism Began with ‘Udant Martand’

Recalling the legacy of Pandit Yugal Kishore Shukla, widely regarded as the father of Hindi journalism, the Chief Minister said the launch of Udant Martand marked the beginning of a powerful movement for public awareness and national consciousness.

He noted that the objective of journalism at that time was not merely to disseminate news but to promote social awakening, public welfare, and national interest. According to him, these values should continue to guide modern journalism.

Journalism Has Strengthened Democracy for Two Centuries

CM Yadav said the 200-year journey of Hindi journalism reflects its significant contribution to strengthening democratic values in India.

He emphasized that the media serves as the fourth pillar of democracy by acting as a bridge between citizens and the government, ensuring transparency, accountability, and public awareness. Hindi journalism, he said, has consistently provided a platform for people’s voices, concerns, and aspirations.

Greater Responsibility in the Digital Age

Highlighting the challenges of the digital era, the Chief Minister said the rapid flow of information has increased the responsibility of journalists to maintain accuracy, objectivity, and credibility.

He stressed that journalism is not only about reporting events but also about guiding society in a positive direction and inspiring constructive change. Maintaining ethical standards and public trust, he added, remains crucial in today’s media landscape.

Call to Prioritise National and Public Interest

On the occasion of Hindi Journalism Day, CM Yadav urged media professionals to uphold the principles of truth, public welfare, and national interest.

He expressed confidence that Hindi journalism will continue to play a key role in raising public awareness, strengthening democratic institutions, and contributing to India’s development in the years ahead.

200 Years of a Proud Legacy

The Chief Minister said Hindi journalism has successfully navigated numerous challenges over two centuries while consistently prioritizing the interests of society and the nation. Its enduring influence, he added, has made it one of the most trusted and impactful mediums of information and public expression in India today.
