Bhopal: More than 7,400 meritorious students from government schools across Madhya Pradesh received scooters under the Chief Minister Scooty Scheme on September 19, with the state-level programme held at Government Subhash Excellence School in Bhopal.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav handed over keys symbolically to selected students and interacted with them about their career ambitions. Students spoke about plans to become chartered accountants, doctors, lawyers, engineers and entrepreneurs, while one student told the Chief Minister about plans to start an agriculture-based business.
The scheme provides mobility support to high-performing government-school students and is intended to make their journey to higher education easier. The 2025-26 batch covers more than 7,400 eligible students.
Students Share Their Career Dreams
During the programme, Yadav spoke individually with students receiving the scooters.
Khushi Rai, who received the first key, said the scooter would help her with both studies and household responsibilities. Another student, Shabd, told the Chief Minister that he wanted to become a Chartered Accountant and believed the scooter would help him continue his studies.
Akash Sahu shared plans to start an agriculture startup alongside his studies, with an interest in food and vegetable supply. He also spoke about the facilities available at Sandipani schools.
Other students shared ambitions ranging from CA and engineering to medicine and law. Mini Jain expressed her ambition to become a neurosurgeon, while Rani Sanpale wants to pursue higher education and become a lawyer. Khushi Yadav aims to pursue an MBBS degree.
The interaction highlighted how the mobility support is being viewed by beneficiaries not only as a vehicle but also as assistance for their next stage of education.

Who Is Eligible for the Scooter Scheme?
The Chief Minister Scooty Scheme covers regular students of government higher secondary schools under the School Education and Tribal Affairs departments.
For the current eligibility criteria, students must have passed Class 12 in their first attempt, secured at least 70 per cent marks and stood first in their respective school. Students from different academic streams can benefit from the scheme.
Under the scheme, assistance of up to ₹90,000 for a motorised scooter and up to ₹1.20 lakh for an electric scooter is provided.
Mobility Support for Higher Education
Speaking at the programme, CM Yadav said the government is focusing on creating better opportunities for students and supporting them as they move from school to higher education.
The scooter is expected to make daily travel easier for students who need to commute to colleges and other educational institutions. For students from families where private transport may be difficult to arrange, such support can reduce one practical barrier to continuing education.
The government is also providing school students with facilities such as free textbooks, uniforms and bicycles, according to the Chief Minister.
Government Schools and Sandipani Schools in Focus
Yadav also highlighted the development of Sandipani schools and the government’s focus on improving facilities in government education institutions.
During his interaction with students, he noted that many young people are looking beyond traditional career choices. Some want to continue family businesses or farming, while others are considering entrepreneurship and technology-driven opportunities.
The agriculture startup plans shared by Akash Sahu reflected this changing approach, with students looking at farming and food supply as potential areas for business and income generation.
School Education and Transport Minister Rao Uday Pratap Singh said the students receiving the scooters had achieved strong results in their Class 12 examinations and that their performance could encourage other government-school students to pursue academic excellence.
More Than 23,000 Students Benefited So Far
According to government figures reported around the 2026 distribution, more than 23,000 eligible students have benefited from the Chief Minister Scooty Scheme so far, with around ₹246 crore spent on its implementation.
The latest distribution adds another 7,400-plus beneficiaries from the 2025-26 academic session.
The programme therefore combines academic recognition with practical support for students entering higher education. By linking the benefit to Class 12 performance and school-level achievement, the scheme also seeks to encourage students in government schools to aim for strong academic results.
Focus on Education and Future Opportunities
The September 19 programme placed students and their future plans at the centre of the initiative. While the immediate benefit is mobility, the larger objective is to help meritorious students continue their education with fewer transportation-related difficulties.
For many beneficiaries, the next stage will involve entering college, professional courses or new forms of employment and entrepreneurship. Their stated ambitions—from CA and medicine to law, engineering and agriculture startups—also reflect the range of career paths students are considering after school.
With more than 7,400 students receiving support in the latest round, the scheme adds a mobility component to Madhya Pradesh’s efforts to encourage academic performance and improve access to higher education.
