Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat inaugurated the Hall of Space Exploration at the Regional Science Centre in Bhopal, marking a significant step towards promoting scientific learning and space education in the state.
The newly launched gallery is one of India’s most advanced and immersive science galleries, offering visitors an interactive journey from the origin of the universe to modern-day space missions. A large number of students attended the inauguration and explored the exhibits alongside the dignitaries.
Developed with the support of the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) under the Ministry of Culture and the Bhopal district administration, the gallery aims to encourage scientific curiosity and innovation among students and the general public.
CM Mohan Yadav Calls Space Gallery a World-Class Scientific Initiative
Speaking at the inauguration, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav welcomed Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and thanked him for supporting the initiative.
The Chief Minister said the gallery has been developed at a relatively low cost while ensuring maximum scientific knowledge through world-class exhibits.
He highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has made remarkable progress in science and space technology. According to Dr. Yadav, the Hall of Space Exploration reflects the state’s commitment to promoting scientific education and will enhance Madhya Pradesh’s reputation in the field of science.
He added that the gallery has been designed to answer children’s scientific questions through innovative and interactive exhibits, making complex concepts easy to understand.

Union Minister Shekhawat Says Madhya Pradesh is Emerging as a Science Leader
Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat described Madhya Pradesh as the “heart of India” and praised its contribution to culture, tourism, and scientific development.
He said the new gallery is a major gift for Bhopal and an important milestone for Madhya Pradesh. According to the minister, the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of combining heritage with development.
Shekhawat also appreciated Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav’s efforts in implementing the state’s Space Policy and expanding opportunities for students to learn about the latest developments in space science and technology.
He noted that the gallery will play a crucial role in achieving the objectives of Madhya Pradesh’s Space Policy while supporting the goals of the National Education Policy, which gives importance to space technology and scientific learning.

- Rocket and spacecraft technology
- Orbital mechanics
- International Space Station concepts
These exhibits have been created to make complex scientific topics engaging and easy to understand for students and visitors of all age groups.

A special section of the gallery highlights India’s achievements in space science, tracing the country’s remarkable journey from its early space programmes to modern missions.
The exhibition covers milestones such as:
- Launch of the first sounding rocket from Thumba
- Aryabhata satellite
- Chandrayaan missions
- Mangalyaan (Mars Orbiter Mission)
- Aditya-L1 Solar Mission
- Upcoming Gaganyaan Human Spaceflight Mission
The gallery also connects ancient Indian knowledge traditions, including references from the Rigveda and the concept of Zero, with modern astronomy and space technology.
