MP: District Collectors To IGs Face Potential Reassignment

Decisions are expected to be made regarding the Chief Secretary, with the change in the Chief Minister prompting speculation about potential changes in this key role
Indian Masterminds Stories

Upon assuming office, the newly appointed Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh is poised to bring about significant changes in the officer postings within the CM Secretariat. This restructuring extends to the administrative echelons, affecting Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and officers at the Secretary level. Furthermore, alterations in key positions such as Collectors, Commissioners, Inspectors General, and Divisional Commissioners are anticipated in several districts.

Simultaneously, the transition in leadership has fueled discussions about administrative overhauls at the state level. Initial focus centers on the role of the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, currently held by Manish Rastogi since March 24, 2020. With over three and a half years in this position, there is speculation within ministry circles regarding the potential appointment of a new Principal Secretary.

Additionally, attention is directed towards officers who have previously served as Commissioners and Deputy Secretaries in the Higher Education Department, as they are seen as likely candidates for the position of Secretary to the Chief Minister. The prevailing understanding is that officers who have remained in the same department for three years or longer will be subject to reassignment in the new administrative setup.

Prominent names under consideration for reassignment include Additional Chief Secretary of Health, Mohd. Suleman, and Additional Chief Secretary of Home, Dr. Rajesh Rajoura, who have both held their respective positions for an extended period. Similarly, Sanjay Dubey, the Principal Secretary of the Energy Department, is also a potential candidate for relocation due to his prolonged tenure in the same department.

Further decisions are expected to be made regarding the Chief Secretary, with the change in the Chief Minister prompting speculation about potential changes in this key role.
