Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh is taking its district-level products to a national platform with 53 registered One District One Product (ODOP) products from 52 districts set to be showcased at the Bharat ODOP Sangam-2026 in New Delhi.
The five-day event will be held at Bharat Mandapam from October 7 to 11, bringing together local products, artisans and entrepreneurs as part of a wider effort to connect India’s distinctive products with national and global markets.
For Madhya Pradesh, the event provides an opportunity to put its traditional crafts, textiles, food products, agricultural products and local enterprises before buyers and consumers from different parts of the country.
53 ODOP Products Represent 52 Districts
The One District One Product initiative focuses on identifying and promoting distinctive products associated with different districts.
Madhya Pradesh has registered 53 ODOP products across its 52 districts, reflecting the diversity of its local production base.
These products represent different aspects of the state’s economic and cultural identity, ranging from traditional handloom and handicrafts to local food and agricultural products.
Among the better-known products associated with Madhya Pradesh are Chanderi and Maheshwari textiles, Bagh Print and Gond art, along with several other handicraft and locally produced items.
The ODOP platform aims to give such products greater visibility while helping producers explore opportunities beyond their traditional markets.

From Traditional Products to Modern Markets
For many artisans and small producers, producing a distinctive product is only one part of building a sustainable business. Access to buyers, branding, packaging, digital platforms and larger markets can determine whether a local product reaches consumers outside its home district.
The Madhya Pradesh government’s approach therefore focuses not only on displaying products but also on improving their market readiness.
Efforts are being directed towards areas such as:
- Better branding and packaging
- Market linkages and institutional buyers
- E-commerce opportunities
- Export readiness
- Product design and innovation
The objective is to help local producers move from small, traditional markets towards more organised and wider commercial opportunities.
ODOP Sangam Offers Direct Market Exposure
The Bharat ODOP Sangam-2026 will provide artisans and entrepreneurs with an opportunity to display and sell their products while interacting with potential buyers.
The event will also create opportunities for business-to-business (B2B) interactions and institutional procurement, which can help small producers understand the requirements of larger buyers.
For entrepreneurs who have traditionally depended on local customers or intermediaries, such direct market exposure can be important for expanding their customer base.
The event will also expose participants to changing consumer preferences and market trends, helping them understand how traditional products can be presented for contemporary markets without losing their local identity.
E-Commerce and Export Opportunities
One of the important aspects of the ODOP Sangam is its focus on helping producers adapt to newer ways of reaching customers.
E-commerce can allow products from smaller towns and districts to reach consumers across India without requiring producers to establish physical outlets in every market.
For selected products, export opportunities could provide another avenue for growth. However, entering international markets requires attention to packaging, product quality, design, documentation and other buyer requirements.
The event is therefore expected to give participating entrepreneurs an opportunity to understand what is needed to make their products more competitive and export-ready.
Showcasing MP’s Craft and Cultural Identity
Madhya Pradesh’s ODOP portfolio also highlights the connection between economic activity and the state’s cultural traditions.
Chanderi and Maheshwari textiles, for instance, represent long-established weaving traditions, while Bagh Print reflects the state’s distinctive textile printing heritage. Gond art brings the artistic traditions of tribal communities into the broader handicraft market.
Putting these products together on a national platform can help present Madhya Pradesh not simply as a collection of individual products, but as a diverse production ecosystem built around local skills and resources.
The emphasis on branding and design can also help traditional products appeal to newer consumer segments while retaining their distinctive identity.
New Opportunities for Artisans and Entrepreneurs
The larger significance of the initiative lies in creating opportunities around the people who make these products.
For artisans, producers and small entrepreneurs, stronger market connections can translate into greater demand and potentially more stable business opportunities. Better packaging, branding and digital access can also help products command greater visibility in competitive markets.
The focus on institutional buyers and B2B connections is particularly relevant because bulk and recurring orders can provide producers with more predictable demand than individual retail sales.
At the same time, participation in such platforms can help entrepreneurs understand market expectations and identify areas where their products need improvement.
Taking District Products Beyond District Borders
The ODOP initiative seeks to build economic opportunities around products that already have a strong local identity.
For Madhya Pradesh, showcasing 53 registered products from 52 districts at Bharat Mandapam provides a chance to connect this district-level diversity with larger markets.
The next challenge will be to convert visibility into sustained market demand. Continued support for branding, quality improvement, digital commerce, design, packaging and export readiness will be important if local products are to build long-term national and international markets.
The Bharat ODOP Sangam-2026 therefore represents more than a product exhibition for Madhya Pradesh. It provides a platform where traditional skills, local entrepreneurship and modern market opportunities can come together, potentially helping district-level products create new economic opportunities for artisans and small businesses.
