Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will interact with 140 selected students on Friday under the ‘Mukhyamantri Yuva Vidyarthi Manthan’ campaign, giving young people an opportunity to share their ideas for the state’s future.

The dialogue will focus on the theme ‘Kaisa Ho Mere Sapno Ka Uttarakhand’ (What Should My Dream Uttarakhand Look Like?). The students were selected from 2,67,744 ideas submitted by Class 11 and 12 students from across the state.

Students to Share Their Vision for Uttarakhand

The initiative seeks to bring students directly into discussions on the state’s development. During the interaction, the selected students will present their views on how Uttarakhand can become a more developed, sustainable and opportunity-driven state.

Senior IAS officers and heads of various departments will also participate in the discussion. They will engage with students to understand their ideas and identify suggestions that could contribute to government policies and development programmes.

The discussions will cover several areas that directly affect the lives and future opportunities of young people, including:

  • Education and healthcare
  • Forests and environment
  • Self-employment and livelihood opportunities
  • Migration from the hills
  • Tourism and technology
  • Women’s empowerment

The participation of senior officials is intended to ensure that the students’ suggestions receive attention beyond the dialogue and reach the government for further consideration.

2.67 Lakh Students Shared Their Ideas

The ‘Mukhyamantri Yuva Vidyarthi Manthan’ campaign was launched on August 10, with the Chief Minister inviting students to share creative suggestions for the development of Uttarakhand.

Around three lakh students from Classes 11 and 12 were brought into the initiative. Of these, 2,67,744 students submitted their ideas through the online portal.

An expert team subsequently reviewed the submissions and selected 140 ideas considered among the best. The students behind these ideas have now been invited to interact directly with the Chief Minister and senior government officials.

The scale of participation provides the state government with a broad set of perspectives from students belonging to different parts of Uttarakhand.

CM Dhami Says Youth Can Shape Policy

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has emphasised that young people are not only the future of Uttarakhand but can also contribute to policy-making in the present.

According to the Chief Minister, useful suggestions emerging from the student interaction will be considered for inclusion in development plans and government policies.

The initiative also connects Uttarakhand’s development aspirations with the larger national goal of building a developed India by 2047. Dhami has said that the state’s youth will have an important role in achieving this vision.

By involving students at the school level, the government is also seeking to understand how the younger generation views issues such as employment, education, migration, technology and sustainable development.

Selected Students to Get Scholarship Up to ₹2 Lakh

The 140 selected students will receive another major benefit under the initiative.

The state government will provide scholarships of up to ₹2 lakh to the selected students for career preparation and coaching after Class 12.

The support is aimed at helping students pursue further education and prepare for competitive examinations or other career opportunities.

This component gives the campaign a practical dimension beyond the student interaction. While their ideas form the basis of the dialogue, the scholarship support is intended to assist the selected students in their next stage of education and career preparation.

Focus on Youth Participation in Development

Uttarakhand faces a range of development challenges, including migration from remote areas, employment opportunities, access to quality education and healthcare, environmental conservation and the need to expand tourism and technology-based opportunities.

The student dialogue is therefore significant because it brings these issues into a discussion involving the young generation that will eventually shape the state’s workforce and society.

The government’s engagement with students also creates a direct channel for capturing perspectives that may not always emerge through conventional policy discussions.

With 2,67,744 students already contributing ideas, the campaign has generated a substantial pool of suggestions. The interaction with the 140 selected students will now provide an opportunity to discuss some of those ideas directly with the Chief Minister and senior officials.

The initiative reflects an effort to make young people active participants in discussions around Uttarakhand’s development, while combining their participation with financial support for their future education and career preparation.
